According to Commission regulations, proposals for rate changes that comply with the applicable legal requirements may take effect. In its decision, the Commission strongly encouraged the Postal Service Board of Governors to consider exercising their business judgment, consistent with statutory and regulatory requirements, not to increase rates by the full amount permitted by law. In response to The Alliance&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsmediaalliance.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/NMA-R2025-1-Comments-Date-Stamped.pdf\" data-outlook-id=\"a22635e6-3ff6-4495-9dbe-9c279897e0c1\">comments<\/a> submitted on May 9, on page 130, <strong>the order states: \u201cThe Commission also shares N\/MA\u2019s concerns about Periodicals\u2019 costs and continues to strongly encourage the Postal Service to take steps to address them.\u201d Regarding the Flats Operations plan,<\/strong> <strong>the order says: \u201cThe Commission nonetheless remains concerned about the issues raised by N\/MA and is continuing to review them in Docket No. SS2022-1.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Price changes are scheduled to take effect July 13. The proposed adjustments, approved by the governors of the Postal Service, would raise Periodicals rates by an average of 9.385 percent and Marketing Mail prices by an average of 7.385 percent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Senator Hawley Introduces Postal Legislation <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/senate-bill\/1604\" data-outlook-id=\"8d5d0592-f55d-40c4-a7a9-6d2788f98a9d\">S. 1604<\/a>, the No Regional Transportation Optimization (RTO) Act on May 6.
