On May 29, the News\/Media Alliance submitted comments with the National Science Foundation and the Office of Science & Technology Policy regarding the Administration\u2019s development of an updated version of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research and Development (R&D) Strategic Plan. The plan aims to protect the country\u2019s leadership position in AI and focus on the Federal government’s role in AI R&D over the next three to five years. The comments expressed support for the Administration\u2019s plans to update the National AI R&D Strategic Plan and encouraged the Administration to do so while guarding against the theft of American intellectual property and abusive Big Tech market practices. The comments build upon and reiterated the Alliance’s earlier comments<\/a> regarding the Administration\u2019s upcoming AI Action Plan, calling for respect for intellectual property, support for scalable global frameworks for AI transparency, and support for market competition.
