The decision recently issued by The Court of International Trade (CIT) was temporarily\u00a0stayed<\/a>\u00a0by the U.S. Appeals Court for the Federal Circuit on May 29, allowing the tariffs to continue to apply while it considers Trump\u2019s appeal.<\/b>\u00a0The administrative stay is expected to remain in effect through mid-June, according to a schedule laid out by judges.<\/p>\n

Additionally, a federal judge in Washington D.C. issued a ruling<\/a> in a case on May 29 against the Trump Administration (Learning Resources v. Trump, an Illinois-based educational toy company) determining that Trump\u2019s global tariffs were unlawful.\u00a0<\/b>U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras said the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEPPA) does not give the president the power to impose most of his recent tariffs and ordered a preliminary injunction against collection of the tariffs under IEEPA,\u00a0but only with respect to the two plaintiff companies, not more broadly.<\/b>\u00a0 Moreover, the Court stayed its injunction for 14 days to allow for appeals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
